The Friends of the New Orleans Public Library, with the assistance of EveryLibrary, recently conducted a survey of candidates running for mayor and for city council.

The survey was created to gauge their support for public libraries and specifically looked at issues related to library programs and facilities.

The questions focused on a variety of topics, including the library’s contribution to the city’s economic development, changes to recruitment for a better workforce, and the need for maintenance to prevent further branch closures.

The candidates overwhelmingly expressed their support for public libraries and their importance in local neighborhoods, with many recognizing the need for allocating funding toward facility improvements.

EveryLibrary provided survey hosting capabilities, support for communications and outreach to candidates, and technical assistance in developing and reporting on questions. For additional details, view the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library’s Press Release on these survey results here.
